Only the Beginning

I came across this quote from the end of The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. I have really enjoyed re-reading this quote over the last few days, so I thought I would share:

"but the things that began to happen after that were so great and beautiful that I cannot write them. And for us this is the end of all the stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story, which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before."

Halloween (Sumo Perry)

Perry's costume this year is the result of an estate sale we went to in our neighborhood this past summer. Apparently, it was a big hit in his office this morning (hence the pictures), so we will see how it does at our neighbor's Halloween party tonight!

Dixie Bell

Meet Dixie Bell - our new foster Golden! She is a real sweetie and we are enjoying having her in our home. We are fostering her for a Golden Retriever Rescue in Dallas - she was almost euthanized due to her age (she is 12-14 years old) when she was dropped off at a sheriff's shelter outside Dallas. This is not a great picture of her, so check out http://www.goldenretrievers.org/our_dogs/dogs08_detail/DixieBell-09-181.html for more pictures, more information about her, and information about the Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas.

Alanna!

Aunt Amy loves Alanna...

Texas/OU Weekend

Watching the game and celebrating at Primo's.

Our Annual Tradition - ACL Fest!

Since we have been dating, Perry and I have always made a point to head to Austin for ACL Fest each year. We always have a blast and the annual event has turned into a shared tradition that we truly treasure each year. Perry's Uncle Don is always a wonderful host and we just have a blast (not to mention how we greatly expand our musical horizons each and every time!). Our new discovery this year: Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights... we look forward to following this band since they are from Dallas. And our rediscovered loves: Pearl Jam!!!, Dave Mathews Band, Coheed & Cambria, and Ben Harper (always).

At last, we arrive! The last couple of years we have ridden our bikes to the festival ("pedal power" per ACL Fest lingo) and have really loved the convenience and the chance to ride like crazy through Austin!

Perry's in his element!

A group shot, from behind. Lee and Meaghan on the left are our annual ACL Fest buddies - we hang out with them each year. Don and Claire on the right.

Zilker Park is just beautiful!
